Nirnoy values the trust of and is committed to protecting the privacy of the personal information of its clients, members, volunteers, donors, customers, employees and other stakeholders.

During the course of our service provision, various projects, fund raising and other activities we frequently gather and use personal information. Anyone from whom we collect such information should expect that it will be carefully protected and that any use of or other dealing with this information is subject to consent. Our privacy practices are designed to achieve this.

Consent Required Verbal/Written Permission (Express Consent), Particularly for our clients receiving counseling services we collect, use or share your personal and health information through CONSENT form duly signed by both parties (client & NIRNOY).

Unspoken Permission (Implied consent) when you request and accept admission to our programs and/or services you are giving your permission to NIRNOY to properly use your personal and health information.

Defining personal information: Personal information is any information that can be used to distinguish, identify or contact a specific individual. This information can include an individual’s opinions or beliefs, as well as facts about or related to the individual. Exceptions: business contact information and certain publicly available information, such as names, addresses and telephone numbers as published in telephone directories, are not considered personal information.

Using Your Information Your information may be used for:
  • For your health care
  • Reviewing our programs & services
  • Satisfaction and other surveys
  • Administrative purpose (i.e. to update or upgrade database etc.)
  • Other purposes as permitted/required by the court of law of the country
Disclosure of Information Our clienteles are protected by a very strong commitment to confidentiality. However NIRNOY cannot guarantee that private and confidential client information will be protected from search or warrants or from the need to report suspected child abuse as required by legislation in Bangladesh. In situations where we believe there is a significant and imminent risk of harm to self or others by a NIRNOY client, we reserve the right to notify authorities or persons at risk.

Your information may therefore be shared with:
  • person(s) (including professional and other health agencies involved in your health care) you have authorized in writing to access to your file
  • a public authority, another service provider or family member where it is reasonably judged that there is an urgent threat to your (or another person’s) safety
  • when the law requires it to diagnose, investigate, prevent, treat or contain diseases/disorders/disabilities
Protection & Privacy practices: Personal information gathered by our organization is kept in confidence. Safeguards are in place to ensure that the information is not disclosed or shared more widely than is necessary to achieve the purpose for which it was gathered. We also take measures to protect your personal information from theft, loss and unauthorized access, copying, modification, use, disclosure and disposal.

Our personnel are authorized to access personal information based only on their need to deal with the information for the reason(s) for which it was obtained. We collect, use and disclose personal information only for purposes that a reasonable person would consider appropriate in light of the circumstances. We use password protocols to protect personal and other information we receive.

You have the RIGHT to
  • see and ask for a copy of your personal health information
  • ask us to make correction to your personal health records if they are in error
  • withdraw a consent previously given to use/share personal health information
